The Atrium Owners Association Wins Best Swachh RWA award for Chennai City

Chennai Corporation has announced The Atrium Owners Association as the best SWACHH Resident Welfare Association (RWA) It gives us immense pleasure and pride to note that one of our esteemed clients—The Atrium , in Thiruvanmiyur, , a gated community with 187 households has been awarded the “Swach Survekashan 2021” award for efficient solid waste management.

We have ensured that no wet waste exits the campus and is thus composted and used in their organic garden. UPSPL’s green warriors – the housekeeping and gardening team deployed by UPSPL. This achievement was possible only by the active participation of the Atrium’s committed community members in achieving zero wet waste.
Mr.Manikandan UPSPL’s Facility Manager at The Atrium said that a total of 21 staff members from the housekeeping team as well as the gardening team are involved in managing waste end to end.
Waste is usually segregated into wet waste, red waste and dry waste. Approximately 80-90 kgs of wet waste is being collected everyday which are filled into the composter bins and mixed with accelerators which is later topped with cocopeat. It takes about 12 days for a fully filled composter to convert the organic waste into nutrient rich manure. This manure is harvested and used for the community’s garden.
